From blower-door diagnostic testing, including ductwork diagnostics and pressure differentials, to the complete installation of the services we recommend, ISI provides everything you need to get Affordable Comfort Now! Our list of services include:
Cellulose Wall-Spray________________________________________ Cellulose wall-spray is a very skilled and unique service that ISI offers. The insulating material used, cellulose (recycled newspaper), is the same as in blown-in attics. The difference here is that wall-spray is applied with a nozzle at the end of the hose, which has two small spray tips on either side, mixing a fine mist of water and adhesive with the cellulose.
Our employees spray cellulose into the walls starting at the bottom of the wall cavity, compacting the material from the bottom-up. Once the cavity is filled up to roughly one foot from the top, the sprayer then changes direction and sprays from the top-down until the entire cavity is completely filled, and the wall studs are covered. Click here to see a video of wall-spray being installed! Another employee then comes behind the sprayer with a “scrubbing” machine. The scrubber is placed flush with the wall studs at the bottom of the cavity and slowly brought up to the top. A clean, flush wall-spray installation is the end result. Click here to see a video of a scrubber in use! Blown-in Attics with Cellulose____________________________________ With this service, the blowing machine is set up the same way as with wall-spray, except that no water is needed. 10" of settled cellulose equals an R Value = 38. We recommend 12 full inches for every home, as the initial blown-in depth will likely settle an inch or so. No less than 10" will pass a building code inspection in the state of Indiana. Weatherization_______________________________________________ Weatherization agencies operate under a grant that began with President Johnson. These grants are intended to help low income residents pay for their basic utilities. They will help pay off utility company debts, setup payment plans to turn back on utilities, and most importantly, pay for the complete weatherization of resident houses. This weatherization includes air-sealing and insulating the house, fixing any problems with the furnace, water heater, and/or oven, and making sure that there are no health concerns, such as risk for lead poisoning or carbon monoxide exposure. Above all else, health and safety are the primary concern of the CAP agency and weatherization contractor (ISI). A priority list is of services needed is created for each house, based on the best Savings to Investment Ratio (SIR) with the money available. For example, if a house has at least 5" of insulation in the attic, but nothing in the walls, then the walls are dense-packed before anything is done to the attic. The Community Action Programs (CAP) which operate under these grants require companies that provide these services to have each employee who works on a house (minimum of two people per house) have over a thousand hours of training, a BPI Certified Building Technician, and a Heating Technician certification.
ISI employs Building Technicians, Home Energy Raters, and other building professionals in order to work for these CAP agencies, and prides itself on its' commitment to quality service and RESULTS. ISI Saves, Guaranteed! Call (765) 289-3447 for more information or click on Contact to email us.
